The Clubs & Societies Awards Ball is an event for Clubs & Societies at the Students Union to show their appreciation to their members and for us to award committee members who have gone above and beyond for their club or society and in some cases the union.  It really is a special event, focused solely on celebrating success.

This year Chelmsford’s Awards Ball was held at the Premier Suite inside the Essex County Cricket Club. It was a black tie event, where members tucked into a lovely three course meal.

To start proceedings we give the Clubs & Societies the opportunity to present their own internal awards. We had just over 50 people attend this event including members from; Football, Netball, Cheerleading, SAS, Mindful Midwifery, Law and Education.

We then continued proceedings by presenting team achievements followed by our Student Union Awards. The Football 2nd team and netball won varsity. Netball were also presented their league title. We had 8 to present in total. These awards are decided by clubs & societies nominating other committees and committee members alongside the Student Activities team.

The following Awards where awards to the students below.

Fresher of the Year – Leanne Tigg (Netball & Cricket)

Society President of the Year – Lydia Bell (SAS)

Team of the Year – Netball

Society of the Year – Mindful Midwifery

Captain of the Year – Keri Gilbert (Netball)

Most Sociable – Law

Most Organised Club – Cheerleading

Club President of the Year – Louise Gregory (Netball)

Special congratulations to every winner of an award. Also, thank you to Jo Harbrow and Alexis Mannion for their continuous support for Clubs & Societies.

This evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Can it be you or your clubs or society who will win these awards next year?
