Level Up! Gaming Society (LUGS)
LUGS (Chelmsford) is back for the 2023 / 2024 academic year, with a new committee.
Our weekly soirées allow you to meet new people who are interested in gaming and all things nerd culture. If you like playing video games on any platform, be it PC, console, or mobile; tabletop games, including card and board games; playing Dungeons and Dragons or reading manga, then LUGS is the place for you.
You have the chance to use our selection of tabletop games and consoles, which include the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
We are one of the most active, yet laid-back societies at ARU. We have a blast playing games each week. Gaming with other people can help relieve the stress that often arises from life at university, and presents a ripe opportunity to make new friends!
We normally meet up every Thursday at 5PM – 8PM,
in MAB013 (unless told otherwise).
It doesn't matter whether you're a nefarious gamer mastermind or a filthy casual: everyone is welcome, and there's bound to be something you'll enjoy.

Charity Events
The Society have livestreamed 24hr Game-a-thons to raise money for the charity Special Effects, who, by providing special equipment, enable people with physical disabilities to enjoy video games.

History
The society was founded in 2007, and was until 2018 known as the SASG (Society of Anime, Socialising, and Gaming).We have organised trips to MCM Comic Con London, EGX Rezzed, and ARU Cambridge’s Nerds Assemble events.
From 2018 to 2023 it was known as Level Up Gaming Society (LUGS).
