Representation

Student reps are an important method of communication between students, the University and the Students' Union. They act as a link between staff and students to ensure that a student perspective is taken into account when decisions are made. Reps identify issues that are relevant to their peers and take them to relevant forums such as Programme Committee Meetings where they can be considered and discussed. Reps are not expected to give advice on individual problems, but may refer their fellows to an appropriate source of help.

Laura Holman (Cambridge) and Debbie Phillipson (Chelmsford) are your Student Representative Co-ordinators. This year Anglia Ruskin University and the Students' Union are changing the face of Student Representation. Our aim is to get you involved, as yours is the most important voice we hear. We want to make sure that you are supported and encouraged to maximize the student experience, not just for yourselves, but also for your peers and many thousands of students in the future.

Why be a Student Representative?

'Reps have fun. They get to meet a lot of different people from around the world and from all walks of life. As a rep you have a certain amount of respect from fellow students who may not be able to assert themselves openly. However fun it may be though you have to have a serious side. You'll get to have some great debates at meetings and it looks great on your c.v.'  -- Sharon Collins - Social Policy
