TIM COURT

I’m Tim. I’ve been a student at Anglia Ruskin for the past 2 years. I started as a Nursing student but moved to Audio Music Technology in September and i’ve have done some work for the students union over the past year.

I have 4 main points that I want to address

Diversity, community, social and multi campus.

Why am I running in this election?

I’m running because I care about university life. I believe that university is not just somewhere to study but a place where we meet new people and try new things. Studying is important but there is so much more to uni life and thats where I step in.

Having studied two very different courses I have seen that there isn't a consistent student experience between different courses and campuses. I want to change that.

Social

The biggest issue that i have is that there isn't a communal space that we can call ours as a university. Thanks to the efforts of the S.U over the past couple of years we have a new student lounge and a refurbished academy however the university still seems to be a place where we solely study. Is that right? university is an experience. So much so there is an election for someone to lead the change in it and that person should be me.

Community

I also want to see more integration between the university and the local area. Cambridge is a university city and we play a huge roll in city life and I think its integral we get involved. Whether this be through events we get involved with in the community or through volunteering roles I want to get your views in what could make Cambridge a place thats known for Anglia Ruskin and what we give to the city.

Diversity

Our university is an amazingly diverse place where people from all over the world come to study. We embrace this a lot already as a university which is amazing but I think more events could be held to increase our diversity.

Multi Campus

Being a multi campus university we have an amazing opportunity to join with people from other areas to do awesome things. Sports is one area that see this with teams on separate campuses however giving the opportunity to other societies to interact in an easy way with other campuses and distance learners is something that I would like to see.

The last election showed that over 3000 people showed their interest in what the students union does. I want to add to that.
