Exhibition Volunteers

This opportunity takes place between 05 Nov 2019 and 30 Jul 2020

Exhibition Volunteers Cambridge Arts Theatre has been bringing quality performing arts to Cambridge and the East of England since 1936. Famous names such as Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry have graced our stage. This year Cambridge Arts Theatre is running a special project to catalogue, preserve and share its archive and we would love you to be involved. We are recruiting eight ‘exhibition volunteers’ to help curate a series of temporary displays of original historic material from our archive in the Theatre’s bar area. In this role you will: • Undertake bespoke training on working with archive material and on how to plan and create an exhibition • Develop practical curatorial skills including: archive research, object handling, object selection, display techniques, text writing and evaluation • Assist the Learning Manager in organising an associated event • Engage with patrons and professionals associated with the Theatre from diverse backgrounds, delivering information on the Cambridge Arts Theatre archive and the Theatre’s history • Learn lots about the Theatre and its history • Evaluate and help to assess the success of our project
