The Befriending Service

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS STILL AVAILABLE BUT DUE TO COVID-19 IS NOW OPERATING AS A TELEPHONE OR ONLINE BEFRIENDING SERVICE. The main aim of the service is to help enable clients who use it, to maintain their independence at home by providing company and friendship and raising awareness of other services that may be available. Volunteer befrienders visit the same person in their own home for approximately 1 hour per week for a friendly chat and to provide company and friendship. All volunteer befrienders receive training and on going support through the service co-ordinator. The main duties would be to visit a client at home on a weekly basis for a friendly chat and provide a listening ear, provide company and friendship to alleviate loneliness and social isolation, report any concerns or problems to the service co-ordinator immediately. Please note that volunteers are currently phoning their clients until home befriending can resume.
