Speak Week

Transforming students’ ideas into positive change

Thank you for participating in Speak Week 2019!

This is by no means all the feedback or all the actions we plan on taking from Speak Week 2019; keep an eye on this page where we'll update as your feedback is transformed into more positive change!

Your Feedback:

Cambridge

'Create a journalism society'

'Orchestra society'

'More networking events'

Chelmsford

'I would have a week where people from different backgrounds are able to showcase their own ethnic culture. So for example, setting up stalls for students who want to showcase their culture in whatever way they can through food, clothing or even music. We have a number of students that are from abroad but we share the same campus so I think this would be a good way of bringing the students and staff as well closer together.'

'I would make the campus more social, by holding more events in 92 and promoting them in the student village.'

'Host parties and massive drinking events. Get a pool table.'

'Stuff in the SU like a pool table, beer pong, etc, to promote student engagement.'

'Host parties and massive drinking events. Get a pool table.'

Peterborough

'We would like a microwave and kettle as the canteen can be a little pricey'

'Kettle and toaster and microwave etc in canteen as veggie options aren't amazing so i like to prepare my own food'

'Provide microwave at Peterborough campus'

Our Actions (so far!):

Did you know Cambridge has the Ruskin Journal a journalism society, and you can start your own in Chelmsford too here: https://angliastudent.com/societies/startyourown/

We have multiple music societies in Cambridge check out ARMS here: https://angliastudent.com/socs/22933/

We ran loads of Networking Events on both campuses in 2019. We will look at running them again! Keep an eye out for them this semester.

Sounds like you’re looking forward to Global Week! From the 24th-28th February 2020 the Students’ Union will be hosting events for students to showcase their cultures for Global Week 2020. Look out for more information on this event here https://www.angliastudent.com/social/globalweek/

You can find all the events on the What’s On Calendar on the website; 92 hosts a weekly quiz, Friday Feeling, as well as other SU and society events, like games nights, karaoke, and

There is now a pool table in 92! Students can have a game while using the space for eating, drinking, socialising, etc.

ARU Students’ Union has provided a microwave in the breakout area of Guild House first floor, so that students can bring in and heat their own food, for free, whenever they need.
