Congratulations on becoming a Campaign Rep!
Below is a list of activities you can expect to do, or be involved in, during your time as a Campaign Rep. If you have not yet been to your induction, please sign-up for one here:

What Will I Do as a Campaign Rep?
As a Campaign Rep, you are expected to:
- Gather the views of the students you represent. To inform your campaigns it is important to gather feedback from your fellow students.
- Attend Executive Committee meetings. The Executive Committee is responsible for the Union's representative and campaigning work and the implementation of policy. The committee is chaired by the Union President who receives regular update reports on the work of the Executive Officers, Campaign Reps, Faculty Reps and Postgraduate Research Reps.
- Be a voting member of the Students’ Union Council. Council meetings are held 3 times a year and it is where you can vote on policy which will affect all students at the University. (This is strongly encouraged and a great way to make changes big and small).
- Attend a Student Appeals & Disciplinary Process. As part of the Academic Regulations a Student Representative must be a member of a hearing panel. (This is an optional, additional opportunity which will provide a good experience. Full Training will be given).
What Reps Should Not Do
You must not attempt to deal with problems that affect an individual student. There may include issues relating to:
- Academic progress (if a student is having problems with their course or fails an assignment).
- Personal, emotional or health problems
- Visa or immigration issues
If a student comes to you with any of the issues above, you should direct them to the Students’ Union Advice Service which is located on both Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses.
You can also direct students to Student Services
who offer the following help for students:
- Counselling and Wellbeing service
- Employability and Careers Advice, including job seeking, CV advice and interviewing practice as well as the Employer Mentoring scheme.
- Study support, which provides services and advice for disabled students (including dyslexic students) and study skills resources for all students.
- Money advice
- The Chaplaincy – spiritual support for all faiths.
