Top tips to improve your self-confidence at uni

Wed 08 Aug 2018

Vice President for Business Mary Copsey shares her top tips on how to gain confidence at uni.

What do you study?

I am half way through my Masters Degree in Human Resource Management at ARU Cambridge.

What made you stand to be an Officer?

I received a nomination and have been involved in the Students' Union throughout my masters. I have loved my time at university and  I am actively involved within the Business School as a Business Intern and felt that I wanted to empower students further.

What are your priorities for this year?

1) Carers Awareness - action plan to support students with friends/family with mental and physical health conditions. "it's not you, its us"

2) Make Turnitin Student Friendly - multiple submissions and incorporate turnitin compulsory teaching sessions to develop all student understanding and knowledge on online submissions.

3) International Support - Investigate into getting a "support package" as an alternative of Books Plus for international Students.

Tell us something not many people know about you.

I volunteered for National Citizen Service (NCS) for two years, one year as participate; year two as a Team Leader.

I am also training in high ropes and rock climbing!!

What's your ultimate ARU moment?

As a Business Intern I participated in a Charity event climbing the 02 London to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

This year as a HRM Student Rep I got CIPD reinstated for current students in MA Human Resource Management.

If you had a super power what would it be?

Flying! I love travelling so if i could fly, I could go all around the world!
