Good Lad Facilitators

Become a Good Lad Facilitator

We are very excited to offer Good Lad workshops for ARU students for the first time in 2018-19. As part of this, we are establishing a network of ARU facilitators to make the workshops as relevant to life at ARU as possible.

Facilitators are key to helping Good Lad make a positive impact at ARU. They will help embed a  culture of sexual respect and positive masculinity for our students. Navigating these difficult conversations will give ARU students the courage to be responsible for enhancing themselves and their communities. As a facilitator, it is also an excellent chance to develop yourself and your skills, and be a part of a larger movement here at ARU. Our workshops ecourage everyone to be involved in the gender equality movement. They don't judge people, but offer spaces for individuals and groups to experiment with sensitive and complicated situations, to make mistakes, and to learn.

Good Lad Facilitator training will be taking place on August 28th and 30th on the Cambridge campus from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (lunch provided), led by the experienced team from the Good Lad Initiative. These two full days of training will prepare you to become a volunteer facilitator for Good Lad workshops at ARU.

This opportunity is open to students, University staff, and Students' Union staff of all experience-levels. We are seeking a few more male facilitators in particular, although all genders are welcome to apply. We will provide you with the training you need, as well as ongoing support to develop you in your role as facilitator and enhance your skills. Following your initial training, you will be given the chance to observe experienced facilitators deliver workshops and then co-deliver a workshop with their support.

If you are interested in signing up for our training on August 28th and 30th, please complete the survey below. If you are an ARU university staff member, please create a Guest Account for Angliastudent.com using the Log In button at the top of the page in order t complete the survey.

All training and workshop delivery is eligible to log as volunteer hours - set up a volunteer profile and log hours here!

If you are unable to make training on the 28th and 30th, we currently do not have another date available for training and cannot yet guarantee future dates. However, please contact the facilitator coordinator at ARU, Rose Guy, to register interest.
