ARU Student Services and your Students' Union are launching our Good Lad Initiative workshops in 2018-19!
What is the Good Lad Initiative?
Good Lad is a non-profit organisation who puts on workshops for universities that promote ‘positive masculinity’, encouraging students to become positive agents of change for gender equality. Their workshops encourage everyone to be involved in the gender equality movement. They don't judge people, but offer spaces for individuals and groups to experiment with sensitive and complicated situations, to make mistakes, and to learn. The Good Lad Initiative aims to promote positive masculinity, and in doing so, to enable men to deal with complex gender situations and become agents of positive change within their social circles and broader communities.
Good Lad uses evidence-based intervention that has been developed with leading academics and experts in gender and sexual discrimination from around the world. Both men and women work at every level of Good Lad to ensure their work is accountable to women. Conversations are also tailored to be relevant to local contexts, such as our unique communities here at ARU.

Good Lad at ARU
Universities from all over the UK have brought Good Lad in to deliver training, and we have joined their ranks! We are now developing ARU students and staff to be facilitators and deliver workshops to Active Anglia clubs, Students' Union societies, and other students who would like to attend one of the amazing Good Lad workshops.

The opportunity to become a volunteer workshop facilitator is open to all genders, and we will take applications from students, Students' Union staff, and ARU university staff.
Workshops
If you are interested in attending a workshop, organising a workshop for your society, or organising a workshop for another group of students, please click HERE! These are an excellent way to bond with and develop your team or society in new and important ways. Our current workshop dates are Oct 26th and Nov 5th, each with a selection of times.
