Join us on the 4th March 2017- Giovanna Mead, FHSCE Faculty Rep (Cambridge)

Our National Health Service is at breaking point. On the backdrop of gross underfunding and continued cuts and closures of NHS services, private companies seek to gain even more of a foothold within the NHS. Continued pay restraint has seen the value of NHS staff salaries reduce by 14% since 2010 and there are now 25,000 nursing and 3,500 midwifery vacancies in NHS England alone.

Furthermore Under the misnamed title of 'Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs)', the Tories will let hospital trusts make the decisions about how to implement cuts of £22 billion it has become clear that this is the latest instrument of privitisation.

The time to act is now! The NHS is fast becoming an issue of huge national concern for working class people everywhere. This demo can unite trade unions, campaign groups and activists in a coordinated protest.

We cannot allow the NHS to be undermined and ultimately destroyed. We must march together, sending a clear message to the government; “the NHS will last as long as there are folk with the faith to fight for it.”

We are holding a session to make banners on Wednesday 1st March in Cambridge (SU Office 3pm - 5pm).

Transport to and from London will be provided at the cost of £5 which you need to pay in advance.
