Hello Everyone,

My name is Leon, I am a 2nd year Forensic Science student going into my 3rd year and am standing for this year’s FST Faculty Rep.

Currently I am the course rep for forensic science and am also the president of the science society. Both of these roles have given me an opportunity to work closely with the SU and many members of staff within our faculty and others. I have attended many meetings and got a good sense of how the Union and the University works and how to help students by directing them to the right places and making staff aware of any student issues that are arising.
 

As FST Faculty Rep I would like to first and foremost make our students as comfortable as possible and make sure that the faculty is performing to the best of its ability to help its students achieve what they want to with their time at university. Our students deserve all the help they can get from their lecturers and the faculty as a whole. This role will allow me to act as the go between for students and staff and will mean that I will be assisting whenever possible and fixing student issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I also want to work closely with the Science Society and its new president to build up on what we created this year and make it as successful as possible. It is a great opportunity for students with interests in any area of science to get together and share the vast pool of knowledge we have. Hopefully we will be able to work to put on events such as trips, quizzes, networking and lots of other things too.

We must remember that the students’ union is for us. Our Vote, Our Voice, Our Union. As Rep I would work very closely with the union as their representative to make sure that they are doing their best for the students. And that the students are doing their best to get the most from the union.

In short, I want to use my year as Faculty Rep to help make the faculty and the university better not only for our faculty's students but for all students!
