My names are Oluwadamilare Adeoluwa Ojewande (aka OLU) currently a first year student in the Dept. of Human Resource and Business Management.

I am running for the position of Vice President in the forth coming student union election.

I am a vibrant and courageous man. I am also articulate and honest,

I am not new in politics. My foray into politics started with National Association of Nigerian Youth Development when I was in Nigeria many years ago before I relocated to UK. This association helped to mobilise Nigerian youths and gave them purpose and voice.

I am seeking re-election for this position as one who has gained tremendous experience in helping my fellow students to accomplish their wants from time to time. I have also assisted a number of students individually and collectively to meet some of the followings:-

(a) The common room was extended and computers were added to it for students that want to work while eating their food.

(b) Classes were put in order to suit our students for lectures.

(c).All the screens in our classes were changed to meet up with the best technological innovations that can facilitates students’ learning and development.

(d) Activities were organised to encourage our students on the campus and even outside the campus. Eg Culture week which brings all our students together as one big family.

(e). Business week for people that want to set up their own business and students that want to do a career jobs were equally organised.

Furthermore, there are a number of other interesting projects planned that I intend to implement if re-elected as one who possesses tremendous experience in managing this position and I believe strongly that I am a trusted, tested and competent individual who has over the time developed strong link with the management and who possesses the zeal and character needed to make students experiences worthwhile during their stay in University. In addition, I was also an active leader in the Nigerian community in Belfast especially among the Nigerian youths.

Addendum to this, I was the Social Director when I was a student at Newham College where I studied Business Enterprise. While in office, I came up with programs that improved and promoted social inclusion of students and general welfare.

I have always had passion to serve and will describe myself as a servant-leader. Since I gained admission in to this university, I have had the opportunity to associate and socialise with fellow students on campus and had a lot of useful discussions with them.

Some of these discussions highlighted the difficulties some of our fellow students face. One of these is financial hardship. Many students have to work to sustain themselves and at the same time meet deadlines to submit their assignments.

If I am elected as the VP of the Student Union, I will work with my fellow EXCO and university authority to explore creating a special pot of money that students experiencing financial hardship can tap into. The student union EXCO will also explore the possibility of applying for lottery funds to support students experiencing financial hardship.

If elected as your VP, I will promote a strong sense of togetherness on the campus through social activities.

If I am re-elected, I will push the school to great a better library and more sockets for student to plug their electronics device and a proper library for student to study and make research.

I will also ensure that I promote the rights and welfare of students across all the campuses and above all, be approachable at all times..
I humbly ask for your vote to give me the opportunity to serve you, improve your welfare and give you a good voice.

Remember – vote Oluwadamilare Adeoluwa Ojewande (aka Olu) is good for you.
