We are the Ruskin Raiders Dance Teams!
We compete in both Hip-Hop and Lyrcial dance competitions up and down the UK representing Anglia Ruskin University. The Hip-Hop Team was formed in 2016, winning 2nd place at the ICC University Nationals! We then introduced a Lyrical Team in 2017, and quickly won 2nd place for that division too! We were Hip-Hop National Champions at the BCA University Nationals in 2022.
Our professional all-star coach Matthew Jones is the owner of Architects Dance Company in Chelmsford. He choreographs and coaches 6 teams representing England including HipHop, Lyrical and Jazz, who compete at the World Championships in Florida every year. We travel up and down the country to compete against all other universities in cities including London, Nottingham, Birmingham and Manchester.
Our Raiders family grows bigger and bigger every year so we would love to have you tryout for one of our competitive teams. We welcome dancers of all abilities for tryouts and offer taster sessions at the beginning of the academic year. Although we compete against universities across the UK, Raiders is also about having fun and meeting new people, forming lifetime friendships!
Alongside the two raiders comeptitive teams, we run weekly social classes for those wishing to learn new skills and maybe try out different dance styles each week, taught by our committee members! To purchase tickets for these classes, click on the link below! We can't wait to see you there!!
