Student Involvement

Student Forums

There will be forums on each campus which are relevant to local needs. The following forums were proposed for Chelmsford and Cambridge, but would be optional for HSHS:

• Ents Forum
• Halls/ Accommodation Forum
• Welfare Forum
• Clubs (sports council) Forum
• Societies Forum
• Course Reps Forum
• Communications Forum

Other Forums can be established to discuss a single issue. Forums will be chaired by a sabbatical officer (or other relevant part time officer), and attended by other relevant sabbatical officers. They will have quite fluid memberships in order to facilitate the needs of students locally.

Union Council

This will be a union-wide group, designed to bring together all the discussions at a local level, in each of the site executives. This group will be made up of sabbaticals, all site executive chair persons plus two representatives from each site executive. This group will receive reports from each site executive and discuss union wide policy matters and campaigning matters, etc. This group will only meet once every 6-8 weeks (probably twice a semester).

General Meetings

As the main policy making body will be Union Council, there is a reduced need for general meetings. However, this format will be retained for use as a discussion arena, and to gather student opinions.
