Given that being a new student is quite often the first time many people have had to fend for themselves we thought some tips on diet might be useful. The basics of healthy eating are very simple and amazingly, pretty cheap as well.

Ideally 1/3 of your diet should consist of fruit and vegetables. You should try to eat five different fruits and vegetables a day if possible according to dietary experts. Another third of your diet should be carbohydrate based (i.e. bread, potatoes, pasta, rice & cereals). You should then try to divide the other third equally between protein (meat, fish, eggs, soya, nuts) and low fat dairy products (milk, cheese, yoghurt).

To help all you students with your healthy eating and your cooking skills we have included an extract from the upcoming leaflet "Chef and Shaft's Supreme Suppers". Weird and Wacky ideas to get you salivating.
