I hope that you have all survived the Freshers period and first few weeks of lectures? I’m sure you have all been mega busy, as have I! Freshers’ fairs seemed to go really well on every campus and it was great to be out and about chatting to as many of you as possible. We have been doing a lot of that lately with the Opinion Poll and more regular trips out of the office around campuses to chat to students about current issues. I have really enjoyed this and think it is the most effective and informative way to find out what problems, concerns and issues etc... you face as a student and we are going to keep it up! In the Opinion Poll you told us that campaigning against increased fees was what we should be making our priority this year so that’s what we’re doing. On the 5th November we will be hosting a regional event (which is part of a NUS national campaign) which will probably be a march through Cambridge and will hopefully involve students from Cambridge University, UEA, UCS, Essex Uni as well as you guys; so get involved and help make a difference. Below is a list of some of the other things I have been up to; feel free to contact me if you want to know more!
· Freshers’ Fairs
· Opinion Poll
· Met CUSU (Cambridge University Students’ Union)
· Launched the halls recycling and energy saving competition
· Organised, and went on, the Thorpe Park ‘Give It A Go’ trip
· Reviewed and allocated grant money for Cambridge clubs and societies
· Attended several University meetings
I look forward to chatting to you out and about soon, don’t forget you can always contact me or come and meet with me as well!
Pam
