We are well and truly in the midst of Freshers now and it really is as busy as everyone warned me it would be. Since my last blog I have mainly been involved in welcoming new students and introducing them to the Students’ Union. I’ve also been out to the SU bar and Academy a fair bit enjoying the freshers entertainments line-up and meeting new students socially so its been a mixture of late nights and early starts but I’m loving it! Below is just a sample of what I’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks; if you want to know more about anything feel free to get in touch…

·       Attended an NUS Higher Education Funding Summit which launched ‘Broke & Broken’
·       Attended the final House Hunting Event organised by the accommodation service
·       Helped and welcomed new students moving into halls
·       Gave welcome talks to international students
·       Hosted an international quiz in the SU bar
·       Drove the first SUpermarket Bus to Tesco!
·       Attended NUS regional training
·       Gave several welcome talks
·       Gave talks on recycling competitions in halls
·       Trained sports club and society committee members
·       Visited Fulbourn
·       Arranged a trip for students to London as part of the Give It A Go series of events

This week is the week of all our Freshers Fairs in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Fulbourn so it is going to be another busy one. Hopefully I will see you there; look out for us Sabbs in our bright blue t-shirts! If you want to come to Thorpe Park in a couple of weeks come to the SU office and ask me about it; we’ve got a really cheap trip planned on the 4th October!

Anyway, hope you are all looking forward to lectures starting and have enjoyed freshers fortnight so far!
