With the illusion of summer quickly fading and freshers approaching faster then greased lighting I have had more and more jobs to add to the never ending to do list! Since I wrote my last blog I have managed to send off the handbook, which doesn’t sound that hard, but 2 weeks and a lot of coffee later it is done – Thanks to Monty and Jackson for designing and writing it!
I’ve visited the distant campuses of Fulbourn and Peterborough to collect some, hopefully useful, information to add to the website that I am currently working on.
I also attended my NUS summer training in Bristol last week, long drive, long hours and a lot to learn but I got through it and really enjoyed it. Hopefully it has trained me to be a better Sabbatical Officer to better service your needs and enhance those of the Students’ Union.
The wall planner is still being designed along with a yearbook of the Students’ Unions achievements to be added to the website and maybe published in the next few weeks. This handbook will allow you to see what the sabbs got up to last year and maybe even a bit of what we plan for the future!
In the coming weeks I have a number of jobs to be completed, for example planning The Apex launch party with our commercial services department and some more less fun stuff like writing reviews on how we communicate information from meetings with students, an elections strategy and a guideline on how to campaign online!
The website is still one of my main focuses so a lot more improvement is needed on that. I have added games which you can play at your leisure so take advantage of those.
Deadlines for The Apex are creeping up so the team are scribbling away writing articles to entertain you on your return. If you would like to get involved feel free to e-mail me on
