Every year, the staff members of the Students’ Union volunteer to help a local Charity and this year, Cambridge Past, Present & Future (a charity whose aim is to champion the protection and enjoyment of green open spaces and the sustainable development of the city and its surroundings) was the lucky recipient.

We were given the task of clearing a meadow in Coton Countryside Reserve. It was a bright, crisp autumnal day, the tools for the job were sharp, there was no rain, we were raring to go, and we took to our lumberjack roles in no time.

The field was full of saplings which needed to be felled and by the end of our six hour stint, the area looked a lot clearer and we had produced piles of lumber which could supply even the biggest Guy Fawkes party!! We found a variety of wildlife during our time in the meadow, Toads & Cats were the most frequent!
